LIONFISH Lionfish are a non-native species that have moved in and are appearing in greater numbers on most of the local dive sites. They are voracious predators that will eat just about anything and they have no natural predators in our area to help keep their numbers under control. You can help by joining the race to learn more about this new threat before they completely decimate our local fishery! We are offering a $2.00 credit per fish and a kill sticker for each lionfish collected and brought in. Just bring fresh or frozen Lionfish in to the shop and fill out the Lionfish collection form. All information and specimens collected will be turned over to researchers at NOAA's Southeast Fisheries Science Center. We strongly recommend learning as much as you can before attempting to kill or collect lionfish. Lionfish have numerous sharp spines that secrete a toxin that can be very painful and in rare instances fatal to anyone that gets stung.
