Marine Life

The waters surrounding Pensacola are home to an impressive collection of marine life of all types, with a wide assortment of tropical reef species as well as pelagics, and many large marine species.

You will find a wide variety of tropical reef species throughout the Pensacola Area including Blue, Queen, and French Angels, Butterfly fishes, Spadefishes, Tangs, Spanish Hogfish, Triggerfish, Damsels, and a whole lot more!

Starfish, Corals, Crabs, Lobsters, and shells of every type are plentiful around most of the wrecks.

Our divers regularly encounter larger species such as Dolphins, Goliath Grouper (Jew Fish), Eagle and Manta Rays, Sea Turtles of all varieties, Ocean Sunfish (Mola-Mola), Whale Sharks, and Nurse Sharks.  Even Manatees are occasionally found in local waters.

One of the great things about diving in Pensacola is that you never know what you'll find swimming or crawling around !

First time visitors often comment on the amazing abundance of marine life in the local waters.  There are days that the baitfish are so thick that visibility is reduced to 10' or less in otherwise clear water.
